Introduction:
Physical and chemical properties
Appearance: usually colorless to light yellow liquid.
Odor: has a special odor, somewhat irritating.
Boiling point: about 183 - 184ºC.
Density: 1.03 g/mL (25ºC).
Solubility: slightly soluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether.
Chemical properties
The molecule contains carbonyl (C=O) and methylthio. Carbonyl can undergo nucleophilic addition reactions. Methylthio has a certain nucleophilicity and can participate in some nucleophilic substitution reactions. At the same time, sulfur atoms are also easily oxidized and can be oxidized to sulfoxides or sulfones.
