Chemical properties
It has the typical chemical properties of thiol, and its two thiol groups (-SH) have strong nucleophilicity and can form stable complexes with many metal ions. It can also undergo oxidation reactions. Under certain conditions, the thiol group can be oxidized to a disulfide bond (-S-S-) or a higher valence sulfur-containing functional group. In addition, it can undergo substitution reactions with some compounds containing active hydrogen, and the hydrogen atoms in the thiol group are replaced by other groups.

Application:
In the field of organic synthesis: as a thiol reagent, it introduces thiol functional groups and participates in condensation reactions to generate sulfur-containing heterocycles or special structure compounds.
In the field of materials science: it is used to prepare sulfur-containing polymers to improve performance, and can also be used as a surface modifier for surface modification of metal nanoparticles or materials.
